Didactic Potencial of the Project-Based Approach to Teaching Journalistic Style and Media Education at Secondary Schools

The main aim of this thesis is to describe and analyse the possible benefits of the project-based approach to teaching journalistic style and media education at secondary schools on the basis of my own pedagogical practice. The first, theoretical part deals firstly with the role of media and mass media in modern society, with an emphasis on the current state of the media environment in the Czech Republic and the habits of pupils in secondary schools in consuming media content. This is followed by a definition of the concepts of media literacy and media education, a set of publicly available inspirational sources, curricular anchoring of the topic and the perspective of Waldorf pedagogy. A basic insight into the characteristics of journalistic style and project-based learning is also provided. The second part of the thesis is devoted to a description and reflection on the project of creating a class student magazine at the Waldorf Lyceum in Prague. First, the principles of teacher self- evaluation and the principles of the 3A methodology (annotation-analysis-alteration) are introduced, then the genesis and context of the described project, its progress and reflection are described. Stylistic Analysis of a Selected Set of Journalistic Texts

The bachelor thesis named Stylistic Analysis of a Selected Set of Journalistic Texts is focused on analysis of a set of texts from the tabloid site eXtra.cz. The aim of the practical part is to find and analyze specific phenomena typical for tabloid journalism on the sample consisting of twenty journalistic texts, which share the same topic (the death of Queen Elizabeth II.). The texts are analyzed on various linguistic levels. The theoretical part introduces journalistic style and tabloid journalism as its subgenre. Comparative analysis of persuasive means used in the Czech and French news texts informing about Covid-19.

This diploma thesis deals with the persuasive devices used in journalistic articles, French and Czech, and their comparison within these two languages. The thesis is divided into two parts. In the first part, the theoretical one, the thesis focuses mainly on the definition of the concept of persuasion and how it manifests itself within journalism. Then, it deals with the description of the journalistic style and journalism in general in the Czech and French settings and traces any differences between the two countries and cultures. In the second part, analytical one, it works with a specific sample of selected journalistic texts, demonstrating and observing these persuasive devices and assessing their relevance and frequency of their usage, again with the intention of documenting possible differences in the Czech and French settings, as well as differences in terms of different genres of journalism. However, the majority of the texts are news texts. This sample of texts focuses on a single theme concerning news and other journalistic articles reporting on the covid-2019 epidemic. The aim of the thesis is to compare the approach of the two concepts of persuasive means and to identify possible differences in their use. This comparison can be made at the level of differences between the two countries, as well as between different journalistic genres. The thesis also includes a set of selected journalistic articles that served as a basis for the analytical part of the thesis.
The Comparison of language stylization of online and printed music magazines

The bachelor thesis focuses on linguistic wording analysis of music magazines. The aim is to determine which means of expression are used in music journalism and how linguistic wording of chosen printed and electronic music magazines differ from each other. In the theoretical part, publicistic style, fundamental terms from the field of journalism and media, and general information about music magazines will be introduced. The practical part will be based on analysis of particular articles from the chosen magazines which will be subsequently compared.
TV News as a Communicative Means

Bachelor thesis TV news as a communicative means deals with the analysis of two main broadcasting corporations, Česká televize with its' news broadcast Události and TV Nova and its' Televizní noviny. The first part, theoretical, explains important terms, e.g. news, journalism style, news broadcast, news broadcast style. Practical part focuses on analysis from the different linguistic levels (morphology, lexicology, syntax, infotainment and tabloid news). The analysed days were the following: 16. 1., 17. 1. and 18. 1. 2012. The aim was to find identical features or differences. The thesis ends with the overall analysis. It also consists analysis of headlines and introductory parts of news broadcast, comparison of news broadcast from the view of length of news.
Language of Tabloids in the First Czechoslovak Republic

The aim of this work is to describe the language of several important tabloids in the First Czechoslovak Republic. Firstly, sensationalist journalism is defined by different criteria and is distinguished from serious journalism. The development of sensationalist journalism in Czech lands is outlined and the press in the First Czechoslovak Republic is characterized. Then, selected tabloids are characterized and evaluated according to the defined criteria of tabloids. Language in journalistic texts is put into broader context of journalistic style and is considered on the basis of the influences that affect the choice of the specific language means. One chapter is devoted to formal and language aspects of headlines of the tabloids. The headlines are described on lexical level, morphological level and syntactic level. The language of the tabloids itself is analyzed on the same levels, on the lexical, morphological and syntactic level. The tabloid press in the First Czechoslovak Republic is compared to contemporary tabloid press and some tendencies of the development of the tabloid press are outlined.
Modern lingual tendencies of czech music journalism

This bachelor thesis deals with the infiltration of modern tendencies into Czech music journalism. These tendencies represent a wholly new approach to the general standards of journalism, its language and stylistics. Young authors analyzed in this thesis prefer to take rather individualistic approach to music and its reflections. Based on the study of the New Journalism and gonzo journalism in American journalism and literature, and with the application of the general standards of Czech journalism I look into the particularities of those new tendencies, describe their development in various media and analyze the written language of a number of authors. In my thesis I concentrate on various music media dated from the 1990's until now. I analyze a couple of music magazines for interest groups, the modified forms of modern tendencies in music sections of the mass media and the contemporary form of individualistic journalism in music media on the Internet.
Language and style of internet magazines for women

This bachelor thesis delas with the linguistic and stylistic analysis of x texts of one of the internet magazines for women. Theoretical part of the thesis presents characteristic features of the journalistic style, formation and development of the internet and the shift of the traditional printed journalism into the online form. There are presented the women's topics and their position in the world of media. The practical part includes the analysis of language and style of one internet magazine for women. The texts are analyzed from several language levels, from morphology, syntax and lexicology . Certain attention is focused on the graphic form of this magazine and on the author's communication with the reader. All knowledge of the analysis is evidenced by numerous examples.
